Daytime had never been Vincent's favorite time of day. It was always too busy with people running everywhere, yelling, working, always doing something trivial and never just enjoying life. And then there was the blasted heat and sun. The half-vampire leaned underneath an overhang of some noble's house. Not ten feet away, a merchant was trying loudly to sell an assortment of drinks, one of which supposedly granted immortality. He had long since given up on getting Vincent to buy one, figuring he was just some sick man who happened to wander into the nicer part of town.
Why had he come here, anyway? It was supposed to be a cloudy day, not bad for a walk. He needed to pick up some food and other supplies for the Fellowship anyway. So he thought, why not get the food that is actually edible on the other side of the city? Why not indeed.
He slumped down further on the wall and sat on the dusty cobblestones. His headed pounded ceaselessly, like someone was taking a smith's hammer to it every five seconds. He covered his eyes with his hands and wished he could fall asleep until twilight.
The vendor was beginning to get louder, much louder. The piercing voice more bothersome than he could handle, Vincent looked up. It appeared some richly dressed man was threatening him, and the merchant wasn't too happy about it.
Wondering why he couldn't just let things be, Vincent stood up and groggily used the wall to support him. "Leave the man alone," he said.
The rich man released the merchant he had been holding by the collar. "Who are you to tell me what to do, filth? This man stole from me. Me!"
Vincent looked at the vendor, who shook his head vigorously "no."
"I don't believe you," he said, placing his hand on his rapier.
"This pig of a man threatening me! How dare you?!" He stomped toward Vincent and grabbed his collar.
Vincent was trying to act stoically unafraid, but really he was too tired to do much of anything. He considered drawing his sword, but the man wasn't worth killing, and he couldn't tell if he was skillful enough in this state to avoid a dealing a death blow.
"Get out!" It turned out the noble was quite a bit stronger than he looked. He tossed Vincent almost into the air, and he landed awkwardly by crashing into another passerby.

Leon sighed, walking about the dreary city. If nothing else, he preferred the nighttime rather then the day. Things tended to be much more - what? Passive? Sort of, there wasn't as much ruckus. Not as many people, and the night time didn't reek as much as the day. Humans, disgusting creatures; weren't they? It was bad enough he was one of them. He could hear a merchant screaming on top of his lungs, trying to sell some potion that'd make someone immortal. Damn, people were dumb. Immortality in a bottle? Not possible. He should know, he was a mage - or partially one - after all. He was tempted to go over there and knock some sense into the merchant - before some Noble started threatening him.
"It's better not to get involved," he muttered to himself, walking right on by. Just his luck - the brute picked some other man up and threw it at him. Why not some other civilian? "Oof," he muttered as he was slammed into the ground - the weight of the other man not helping the discomfort at all. He quickly moved, causing the man to hit the ground himself. He got up brushing the dust off of his clothing. "Come now, don't you know it's much more honorable to pick on someone your own size?" He asked the man before snapping his fingers. This of course, triggering off part of his magic. He quickly controlled the flames to scorch the man's arm, causing it to cease before it could kill him. "Now, I think that's a pretty fair price for what you made this man go through. Now isn't it?" He asked rhetorically, grinning to himself.
He turned around, looking at the man who know was laying on the ground. His grin vanished, making him almost look emotionless. He held out one of his gloved hands, willing to help the man up. "Sorry about that, I can't help but to ask; are you alright?"

Zara laid down in her cage, trying to take a snooze. She didn't think it right to suddenly break out and harming anyone in the process. However, the sound of fighting from the outside made it hard to ignore, her sense of justice didn't allow rest in such an uneasy situation. Getting up, she paced around the cage in a circular motion, trying to decide what to do. Should she help? No, it would cause unneeded chaos! Though she can't leave the fighting to such a long extent that more people will be harmed!
Than she remembered the reason she was here. She was incompetent and didn't notice the humans that sneaked up on her before drugging her and now she as being sold.
"Monster for sale! There is nothing you should fear with this creature by your side!" the merchant screamed amiss all the violence. She wished that there was some way to peer through the low visible blinds. That way she'll be able to survey how bad the fight becomes. Once again the merchant continued to attempt to sell her. Good thing she wasn't evil or everyone might be dead.

Vincent had the breath knocked out of him as he slammed into the man, just another topping on another magnificent afternoon. He felt the man get up and yell something. At him? He couldn’t tell. The blow had just sent his headache skyrocketing* into uncharted territory, and now he was barely even able to see.
In the back of his consciousness, he felt some heat on his clammy face and heard a woosh sound. Blinking back his temporary blindness, he saw the noble run around rather comically with his arm on fire. Standing over him was a grinning man, apparently the person he had run into. It’s a good thing he didn’t take out the anger on me, he thought.
The man turned around, his fun finished, and offered a gloved hand to Vincent. He accepted the help up gladly. “I should be the one apologizing to you,” he said as he push his hair from his face and redid the tail. “I really need to learn to mind my own business, but I think I’ll be fine.” He looked over at the noble. “So you set him on fire? Not a bad idea at all.” Offering his own hand in greeting, he said, “Name’s Vincent.”
*Yay anachronisms!

Leon nodded, this man seemed nice and sensible enough, there was no reason to annoy him as he annoyed any other. Leon couldn't help but smile at the mans introduction, shaking his hand before reciting his own name. "Hello, Vincent; I'm Leon. It's a pleasure to meet you, if you don't recall the rather awkward way we just met." With that, another merchant was screaming something out, causing him to frown. He turned toward the ruckus, seeing a large cage with rather fancy clothing covering it up. "How wonderful, think the Noble's caught themselves another dragon?" He murmured partially to himself, partly to Vincent. "I'll be back, unless you do want to follow me. In case that brute comes back looking for revenge, most of them do..." He said quickly, walking over to the latest merchant. He was standing on a box - a rather tall one too. What was with merchants and boxes? None the less wanting to look tall?
He scowled, looking up at the man. "How much?" He asked bluntly, the man grinning down at him. "800 gold! My good sir! So, do you accept?" Leon shrugged. "Here's the money, let it out of the cage." The man was taken aback, "Why!? I mean - it's perfectly fine in the cage." Leon decided it was his turn to grin up at the man. "Oh, it shouldn't be a problem. You said I'd be safe with it by my side right? Or, are you just afraid it'll eat you? In that case, my good sir; I'll do worse to you then what you did to that creature in the cage." The man jumped, yelling a couple okay's before opening the cage, taking some rope that was tied around it's neck and giving Leon the handle. "There," With that, Leon dropped the handle, quickly burning the rope off - being sure not to hurt the dragon.
"You may go where you please, you aren't any material to be owned. I do recall that dragons were supposed to be roaming out and about Rodylia, and not confined, hm?" He asked the dragon, not afraid of it one bit.

Zara walked out of the cage casually, surprised by what the man had spoken to her. He was the righteous type indeed! Someone of such caliber is her knight in shining armor! In midst the excitement, a man out on the sidelines began to throw what seemed to be perfectly good food at her. She was used to it, especially when he started to call her a monster.
"That is no dragon! Its a beast!" he cried out in protest. "Put it back in its cage!" more people began to chime in.
Zara being the way she was, simply turned away from the crowd, but what caught her eyes was a single book out in the distance. It appeared to be one of the rare copies in the Ark Reign series. Her favorite as she recalled! It was full of love complications and such what not.
"Oh dear kind sir...I don't want to seem like a bother, but...can you buy me that book?" she asked casually to the man, while pointing to the novel...
"Can you? Can You? Can You? Can You? Can You?" she continued to ask, jumping about as she did so.

“Awkward.” Vincent chuckled. “You’ve got that right.” Leon didn’t seem to hear him though. He was watching a merchant scream about something or other and throw what looked like confetti in the air. Whatever he was selling, he was very excited about it. A crowd of people stood around and cheered; for what exactly, it was unclear. Behind the group was a cage, or it looked like a cage at least. It was much larger than anything that would hold a dog or a horse, or any creature he could think of—except for one. Vincent heard Leon mutter something about a dragon as he walked over to the merchant.
Having nothing better to do but complain about the sun, Vincent decided to follow him. Doing something seemed to take his mind off of the situation. At the very least, it couldn’t hurt. To his surprise, Leon purchased the dragon. Not only was it a dragon he bought, but the sheer sum of the price was enough to make most men pale.
As the dragon emerged from the cage, Vincent noted it was particularly fearsome, certainly not something you would want to bring into the city. Wicked horns curved around its scaled head and it stared hungrily at a book seller.
In another twist of events, Leon burned the rope to ash with his handy fire spell. Vincent was about to ask him what he was doing, but then the dragon did something even more unexpected. “Um, Leon,” Vincent said. “Does that dragon want a book?” It started to jump about in excitement, and most of the crowd fled, scared for their lives. Vincent grabbed onto a nearby booth for balance; the jumping was beginning to feel like an earthquake. “Dragon!” he yelled over the din. “I think—“ Something made a crashing noise near the merchant’s booth. “I think it might be a good idea if you stop jumping!”

Leon was just about surprised as Vincent was, also noting that the dragon was female. It sounded female, therefor in his mind it was a female; it made sense. He sighed, "Yes," he murmured before the dragon started jumping around. Thankfully Vincent had something to grab onto, while Leon fell to the ground. "Ouch. Okay! Okay! I'll get you the book... Just stop jumping." He yelled, managing to get up. He quickly darted for the book, giving money to the terrified shopkeeper. He walked up to the dragon after she seemingly calmed down, setting the book down in front of her. With that, he walked over to Vincent, giving a quick sigh. "Sometimes I wonder why I even try to be nice," he muttered, looking over at the dragon. "So, I guess I should have asked this earlier... But what brings you into this rat-hole of a city?"

"Oh, I apologize for my actions," Zara said to one of the merchants whose stand had been knocked down for her excessive jumping. It couldn't be helped, she hasn't had a good book for awhile now. Carefully, with the tips of her claws, she gently set the stands back to their original stations, standing tall and prideful. She was indeed good with her hands.
Quickly and gently, she picked up her new book and set out to read the first page. Before long, she let out a low happy sigh from within and found it important to go and stand beside her savior. It was impossible for her to get out on her own thanks to her personality. Slithering up next to the two men, she commented,"Umm, hello, may I ask you all a little favor? It isn't much, but it will keep me away from quite a bit of trouble. You see, such a dragon like me, can't be seen off walking on its own. So may I, please follow along with you?"

Vincent laughed at his question. “Well, actually, I live here. Not here in this part. On the other side of town. I’m beginning to wish I’d stayed over there.” Realizing the earthquake had settled down, he let go of the booth. Though his head was still pounding fiercely, he was at least able to stand on his own. He glanced over at the dragon, who was reading the book Leon had bought it—her, maybe. She seemed to be enjoying it. Vincent tended to forget that the dragons in Rodylia were not all mad beasts like in Daevir. It was a welcome break.
After a few seconds, the dragon lumbered over and asked them a question. “I’m not going anywhere in particular,” he answered, “but I think a better idea would be for you to fly. There are, well, quite a few things around here that could get destroyed if you aren’t careful.”

Leon nodded, chuckling at Vincent's comment. "Perhaps it was for the best. Everything around this part tends - no, is - insane. It's probably why I somewhat like it, though. At least I don't get bored," He explained, or rather; rambled. He looked over at the dragon, whom looked happy. He hadn't quite known they were into literature - or human literature, at least. He closed his eyes, not intending to open them until the dragon came over. And, she did; as he assumed she would. He just shrugged, listening to Vincent's claims before making his own. "I sure as hell wouldn't mind the company, but I doubt I would be leaving the city anytime soon. As Vincent states, if you aren't careful you'd cause more havoc then you... we.... have already done." He couldn't put all the blame on her, no; he caused half the trouble too. Hopefully Vincent wouldn't take offense to the comment, for he wasn't talking about him in general.
He sighed, leaning against the shop stand. "You okay, Vincent? You look a bit out of it..." He asked, trying to sound concerned. Still, something about the man seemed off. As if he were in some sort of daze - or had a killer headache. Was it the sun? Maybe... Leon wasn't exactly friendly with the sun either. "I suppose we should get out of the sun, that is.. If your not okay standing here." He said to the two, waiting for a response.

"Oh, the sun, here I'll help," Zara remarked, stretching out her right wings over the two people. She loved to help, even for the simplest of tasks. Besides its only normal to help new friends.
"As for flying, I haven't in that in many years, I doubt I'll be able to fly home before crashing into a few buildings and cause distress. Doing so would mean to worry the civilians and that truly would be disturbing the peace," she commented.
"I don't mind staying in this city for as long as needed, and I promise I won't crush anything in the visit."

He looked up, thankful for the dragon. She may have been a gigantic nuisance to the rest of the people in the city, but she was useful here. “I’ll be fine,” he said to Leon. “It’s nothing I’m not used to. I’ve been… ill lately—nothing contagious though,” he added hastily. “Thank you for the concern, but I’ll be fine.”
Vincent looked back at the dragon. “I suppose you have a point. If you have no where you need to go, Leon, we could head to the other side of town. It’s near enough a gate that, uh, the dragon, could get through without much trouble. What is your name anyway?”
As he looked away from the dragon, he began to hear a familiar ringing in his ears, then black spots were trying to bring back the blindness from earlier. When he felt his face grow unnaturally cold, he reached for the booth and slid down the side. Maybe ignoring the sun hadn’t been such a great idea.

Leon nodded his thanks to the dragon, before looking to Vincent. Perhaps he was right, he shouldn't worry. Yet, he couldn't help but to worry. He was just flat out odd like that, always caring for others when he probably shouldn't. Leon shrugged at this question or statement, whatever you wanted to call it; of which didn't sound so bad. "Sure, sounds good to me. Not like I have anything else to do but sit here anyway-" he cut himself off as Vincent reached and slid down the booth. And the man told him not to worry, how... Ironic? Maybe, maybe not. He knelt down beside Vincent, helping him up as he stood. "Yeah, sorry. But I'm going to worry, especially if your ill...." He trailed off, looking up at the dragon before looking to Vincent. "You still up for going to the other side of the city...? Or do you want to take the time to rest?" He asked him unsure of what to do at the moment.

She was traveling at an alarming rate, weaving in and out of the crowd as if they were her obstacle course. Her ears were filled with pointless chatter as she hopped, skipped, and tripped over the current of the merchants and civilians alike. Cleo's face was sincere as she ducked under a barrel of unknown substance and continued charging. A dagger fell into her hand somehow as she flipped over a man who happened to be stretching his arm over his beefy head. They looked at her in amazement as she twisted midair until her feet safely hit the ground. She hit it sprinting again, her short hair bouncing along with her as if weightless. Her breath was even as she continued her crazy dance through the endless flock of people. She caught someones shoe and tripped forward, but easily saved herself and was on her feet again in a flurry of swift movements.
Her hand rushed forward, the dagger nearly slicing off a man's ear as she flew through the air. Cleo's target was right there in front of her, and she grinned in anticipation. Her leg hit the man's body full on, causing him to topple over. She straddled his chest, her fist knotted in his shirt as a dagger was pressed to his neck. Cleo was eye-to-eye with him in seconds and spat at him with nearly undecipherable words. "I finally found you. I thought it would have been harder then this. Client 24 will be extremely happy when I bring back your head." She grinned even wider, pressing the tip of her blade deeper into his neck, although not piercing his neck. Odd... She usually drew blood at this point. Cleo didn't pay attention to the monstrous beast a few feet before her, or the man that stood beside her victim. Hell, she didn't care at all.
