Name: Eliude Runek
Race: Darkling/Shapeshifter
Gender: Male
Age: 27
World of origin: Dark
Allegiance: None
Description:
Hair Color/Length: A dusty brown that might as well be called gray
Eye Color: Amber
Body Build: Thick around the shoulders, but surprisingly boney elsewhere
Complexion: Pale
Height: 6’
Weight: 157
Apparel: Nearly everything he wears is a dusty gray color: his tunic, pants, and scarf. Only a black vest and leather gloves are a different color.
Summary: All and all, he’s not a very imposing person. His hunched posture tends to make him appear weaker than he really is and his complexion is damn near sickly. He isn’t as weak as he seems, but he isn’t nearly as strong as he could be if he took better care of himself.
Skills/Weapons:
Sword: He typically uses two short, curved swords, which he holds with the points curving inward to his arms. He isn’t bad at swordsmanship and can probably hold his own with some very experienced fighters.
Wolf: He is part shapeshifter after all. Though he would need to be literally on the brink of certain death to even think about transforming, he uses the wolf’s smelling and hunting abilities to his advantage.
Personality: To put it simply, Eliude isn’t the most fun person to be around. He’s a pessimist and rarely speaks unless he finds something interesting or useful, which isn’t very often. Easily annoyed, he isn’t one to smile. In fact, only a handful of people in either world have ever seen him happy. He isn’t cruel, even though he may come off that way. Eliude will stop to help someone, as long as the helping doesn’t mess up his own goals. Pessimism aside, he’s fiercely determined to get what he wants, and even though he might not want to admit it himself he holds out hope that maybe the world isn’t as bad as it seems. He doesn’t care much for his own well being. Though he’s not suicidal, he tends to forget to eat and doesn’t even notice if his gaunt appearance tends to frighten others.
History: Eliude’s childhood was far from happy. His mother was a servant for a rich household in Cavrel. She was originally from Rodylia, a victim of the fickle Rift. His father, a darkling rich from a successful trading business, took her as his mistress, and Eliude was born shortly afterward. Growing up, he could never manage to find his niche. The only person he could really talk to was a merchant’s guard who worked with his father who taught him how to use his swords. His father was a knave, a man who, in Eliude’s opinion, didn’t deserve to live. Day in and day out, he saw him beat his mother and the other servants half to death. One day, he could no longer stand it, and he vowed to kill the man. By a twist of fate, the Rift stole him away before he could complete the job.
At seventeen, he was stranded in the middle of D’Kalte with no food or water. He managed to escape south, but not without a price. From then on, he became progressively unhealthier. Rodylian doctors he managed to come across in the years after feared the sickness, whatever it is, may be terminal. Eliude seemed not to care. His goal now is to return to that world and finish what he started, and until then, he’ll take any job offered to him if there’s the slightest chance the money earned would help him find a way back.
