Name: Kida Maus
Race: Darkling
Gender: Female
Age: 20
World of origin: Dark
Allegiance: None
Description: Kida does not seem like much of a threat, and except for her speed, she really isn’t. She’s about 5’6” in height and has no outstanding amount of muscle. She has red eyes, a common trait of her kind and short black hair which reaches almost to her shoulders.
She commonly wears tighter pants which are easier to move around in, and she still uses the nice boots her father gave her before she left. A cloth belt holds her sleeveless nuts tucked in and secures the kusarigama on her left hip. A kris is kept sheathed on her back. She commonly dresses in dark colors or those which easily blend into surroundings.
Skills/Weapons: Despite her pacifistic tendencies, Kida is not bad with weapons. However, because of her comparatively small stature, she prefers to use small weapons, often daggers and the like.
Her preferred weapon is the kusarigama. But she also holds a kris knife for backup.
Personality: Because of her rather unusual upbringing, Kida is not all that great around people. She enjoys being around others but is rarely able to carry on a conversation. Kida can be a bit random. She tends to say whatever pops into her mind, despite the fact her train of thought may be all but impossible for others to follow.
Also due to her upbringing is her sense of justice. Growing up in the Dark World, she saw her share of heinous things, but she would never give up her hope that every living thing has some amount of goodness in their hearts. She hopes to bring that out in others or at the very least protect those who are in danger. With this insane sense of optimism, she tends to get herself into trouble, but she’s often too oblivious to learn from it.
History: Kida was born the daughter of Rami, a Darkling chief of a nomadic tribe from the Berefit Plains. Her mother died shortly after her birth due to complications, but her father provided plenty of love. He, like her, was an optimist, and to keep his daughter that way he shielded her from the horrible things they saw in their travels and basically spoiled her. Sure, she heard rumors secondhand from the other tribesmen, but the stories never hit close to home until she saw one for herself.
One day, she went out wandering the plains with Lealen, a childhood friend of hers, and came across a Darth’iar priest and his entourage of guards. The priest stopped them on their way and asked Lealen some questions, namely, what city they were from. Answering honestly, he said that they were nomads. The priest, hateful of that type of people since they avoided the church’s taxes altogether, killed him and told Kida to warn the tribe against the evil ways of the nomads.
She ran back in tears and told her story. Many of the tribesmen wanted to leave to the Dim Lands, far from where the priests would look, but her father insisted on staying. “This has happened before,” he said, “and it will happen again. But the only way we could lose against these people and give them free reign over the world is to do what they say, so we will stay, and we will fight if need be.”
The priest never went through with his threat. When Kida turned nineteen, she opted to leave the tribe and try to change the world. Though her father was crushed, he did not hold her back. And so she left.
