Zerene ran after Gavin, the best she could with her size, finding that he had stopped near one of the newer buildings. He didn't seem to be at his best sort of shape. Taking up post next to him, Zerene started to drool, he was pretty tender. Thinking like that she began to drool on Gavin's shoes.
"Now what?" she asked, even more saliva dripping onto his clothing.

Gavin flinched as Zerene arrived. Moving closoer to him, she began to drool, and not just on the ground. Gavin inched away, careful not to make a scene out of it. This might turn out to be the strangest night of his life.
“’Now what?’” he repeated. “I was hoping you knew. You’re the only one Cain told what was going on. So which building is it?”
(Short post. Eh.)

"Eh, I thought you would know, that bastard barely tells me anything!" Zerene said thoughtfully. She tried her best to stop drooling, but man she was hungry. Rubbing off the current layer of salive, she turned, looking here and there, but finding it futile.
"Alright you go! Lead the way leader."

“What the hell, Zerene!” he spat. “What don’t you understand about ‘I have no idea where to go’? Is it the where part? Because I don’t understand that either.” He gritted his teeth and looked down at the cobblestone path. Yelling at her would get them no where. “Did he give you a map? Anything? Even Cain isn’t this demanding.”

"He doesn't trust me enough to give me anything, but...Oh! He did trust me to give you this letter that I was supposed to show you back at the tavern..." Zerene remembered, pulling out a small package. She didn't open it, apparently there was some magic put into it that made it impossible for her to open. That bastard really didn't trust her, nor did she to him.
"Well...sorry..." she said timidly.

“Something you probably should have remembered a while ago,” he muttered. Gavin accepted the letter felt a slight buzz of magical energy. Either it was going to explode when he opened it, or Cain had put some sort of block on it. He hoped it was the latter. He peeled off the wax seal and began to read: A man by the name of Gideon of House Estol is rumored to be in cooperation with an agent of the Darth’iar. You are to confirm this. If he is not involved, leave as quickly as possible while preserving the integrity of your identities. At the very least, don’t let him learn your name. If he is indeed involved, find out who his contact is, the means of their cooperation, and the current location, if known, of the agent. Once you’ve completed this portion of the mission, kill him. If you can without a doubt escape the building and get back to the tavern without attracting any attention, bring him with you.
The location is the Palace Estol, which is in the East District and is marked with the house’s symbol, a shield with a dog and a lily. Guards patrol the two entrances all day, and it would be near impossible to make it through the servant’s entrance unscathed. The most plausible means of entrance would be to enter a window from one of the rooftops, but the choice, of course, is yours.
One last note: Gavin, Zerene is necessary to this mission. She is dangerous; make no mistake, but she is loyal to me, and thus this organization and you. Be wary, but do not let an excess of caution impede the mission. Good luck.
♥ Cain Gavin blinked at the closing message and then read the letter aloud, leaving out the last paragraph. “See any buildings like that around here?”

"Oh right, well I spy with my little eyes, a sign that leads to the east district over five kilometers, but there are a few patrol people close to it." she remarked pointing in a certain direction. Her eyes were much more suited in the dark than Gavin, though she didn't dare think about staring into the sky for too long during the day.
"There appears to be a guard loitering there...Can I kill him?" she asked casually.

Gavin followed Zerene’s eyes to the East District street. A number of small-fry guards, even worse equipped and worse trained than he used to be, walked aimlessly back and forth. He knew that life all too well, and as pointless as it was, they didn’t deserve to die because of it. “No,” he told her. “No, we don’t want to attract any more attention than we have to. You would probably be able to get through, but there’s too much of a risk one of them would recognize me. Let’s go on the rooftops. I doubt any of them would bother to look up.”
He looked up at the ornate building they were standing next to. There were plenty of footholds—the windows, the various statues, the carvings. It would be no trouble. He grabbed onto the neck of a gargoyle and pulled himself up, then moved onto a window, another gargoyle, jumped off some sort of flower carving, stepped on one more window, reached the balustrade, and dragged himself up. Brushing dust and bird feces off his hand, he waited for Zerene.

Zerene groaned, she wanted some food like soon! Than again work was much more important and it gets to you one way or another. Unlike Gavin who was struggling a bit, she quickly took some footings of the statues and quickly climbed, leaped, silently and stealthily hid with ease, right after Gavin.
"Alright what now?"

“Now?” Gavin picked a rather large piece of white something off of his gloves; he hoped it was paint. “Now we need to get past these guards, which won’t be hard.” He took a few steps and looked over the side. Fighting the vertigo which had just struck his head, he saw that none of them were looking up. “Easy,” he muttered. With a running start, he leapt over to the next building and used the momentum to carry his stride over to the one after that. He never bothered checking if Zerene was behind him. In the course of the trek across the rooftops, he’d had to crawl over a number of statues and almost slipped off twice, but eventually he made it to the East District. As he scanned for the family’s seal, he decided to wait for her.

Zerene followed Gavin, best she could or as normally as a human should, than again she was never good at holding back. Her footing became better as she adjusted to the ledges and stone textures on the building. The stone felt much more cooler and slick than that of trees. Every step had the same feeling to it, before long, she couldn't tell if she passed through a building or not, if Gavin didn't appear to get closer. As she took her post next to the young man, she tried to act like she knew whats going on, before finally spotting something that looked like the thing like the sign from what Gavin described. Tugging at his arm, she pointed to a building that was far off in the distance, within the shades of other structures close by.

Gavin nodded and knelt down to check the ground below the rooftop. No guards still. It was almost too easy so far. He drew a small knife from his belt and climbed down the back of the building using a maintenance ladder. Keeping his head out of site, he dashed across the street. Now the hard part. Taking Cain’s advice, he spent a few minutes climbing yet another roof. Brushing sweat away from his eyes, he wondered if he would even have enough energy to make it back to the tavern after this mission. He jumped across another rooftop and checked it this was indeed the right building. There was the crest. Good. He lay down near the edge of the roof and fitted his knife into a dilapidated old window. After a few seconds of work, it popped cleanly off. He scowled. It was still too easy. He licked his lips and checked to see if Zerene was near.

Zerene followed Gavin, but unlike him, she was careless and at some point tripped and fell on top of a man. The fall was inconvenient to say the least, luckily for her she landed on top of a human soldier, unfortunately he was wearing chain mail. For a few seconds there was absolute silence, until finally the man picked her up like she was a newborn child. Than again, this wasn't the first time someone did that to her, but it still made her blood boil whenever someone does.
"Let go of me you meanie!" she hollered struggling by kicking her legs and waving her arms. Why was everyone so mean to her, was it because she was a vampire? If so than most of the people in the world were racists. The man simply grunted and signaled with his head for a companion nearby to come over.
"Whats a little kid like you doing in such a dangerous area?" the new arrival came. This one seemed older, only perhaps within a five year range of the man holding him. Even in the darkness Zerene could make out his experience, he seemed to have survived a few fights that could have killed him. How was she to reply? Tell them she was probably going to kill off their employer, they did seem like travelers. That wasn't a good reply, she tried once before.
"I was...umm...ah forget this!" she answered in distress, before kicking the man as hard as she could on the chest. The kick barely made contact, but it did surprise the stranger enough to loosen his grip. Taking this chance, she gave one final struggle, freeing herself from the man's grip. Her natural instinct wanted her to bite into taking every last drop of the human's blood, but that would cause too much trouble and unneeded attention to the two of them. The only way she could high tail it out of there before causing bloodshed was her turning and snarling, her fangs shining in the moonlight, before running off. Behind her, she could hear her pursuers' footsteps close by. Thanks to her experience it wasn't long before she found herself climbing onto another rooftop hidden within the shadows of the night. She continued to run towards Gavin, knowing soon there would be much more people after them, than why wasn't there any when they got into the area. Hopefully it wasn't a trap and those guys were actually soldiers, but she highly doubt it. They weren't as well equipped as a hired soldier.

As Gavin was crawling inside the building to set the pane of glass on the floor, he heard something coming from behind. It almost sounded like a fight—screaming, running, the whole shebang. He closed his eyes, hoping that it what was about to happen really wasn’t about to happen.
It did.
Zerene was behind him, too close, with a group of soldiers following. Gavin ducked down into the building and crawled as far away from the window as he could. Now what was he supposed to do?

Zerene noticed Gavin jumping down from the window. Knowing better than to completely endanger the mission, she decided to take a right, continuing the nonsensical chase. The men yelled at each other, some saying how stupid it was to chase a child. For one, she was like 100 years old (actually 694)! Her tolerance was running low after rushing past a few blocks. It helped that her speed was better than these humans, after a few more large oversized houses, it was good enough to go behind a building and start climbing up the cracks and holes.
Once the guys finally arrived, they only met face to face with a brick walls. Being smart about it, she decided against checking on them and quickly ran back towards Gavin. Even for a vampire, the amount of exercise could still be tiring. Her breathing became a little heavier than when it all began, yet she kept a steady stream, still making barely any audible sound. Her attitude was the only thing that kept her from being a quiet girl or was it a pride thing?
The steps that clacked at the roofs were more rhythmic now, her eyes set at the house Gavin went into. There wasn’t any time to goof off and worry about going hungry. No matter what, she will always be hungry for blood anyways. For her there was always some thirst, but there has never been anything that could satisfy. Blood was only a nutritional survival thing, not food. As her mind became a tad sharper, streaming a thin wisp of breath from the night air, she couldn’t help but give out a small smile. It had been long since a mission and it was best to be excited. Cain had only been binding her from killing people and most days were simply lounging away.
The constant rest had made her a dull blade, but it had also made her a little more ‘unbound’. As more time was given to think, all the possible fun activities popped up. Killing the man out front was way too boring, bringing him back would just be following orders, and perhaps she could torture this troublesome guy before the execution. Someone had to die tonight or at least pay for her troubles. Before more wicked actions could be conjured, her small venture had landed her back to the designated location.
Surveying for a few minutes, she found the window Gavin had slipped through, still open from before. Positioning herself more carefully now, she grasped a ledge, sliding down slowly, but not quite as careful. Putting her hands against the wall, she began to crab walk to the window. Peering through the black rectangular hole, it was apparent that no one was on the other side. Perhaps Gavin had some prospers and could still be waiting in the shadows for her. Grabbing the wooden bottom of the sill, she jumped through, landing on the ground with barely any sound, kicking up a little unsettled dust.
