Once, long ago, the gods created a world full of promise. It gave forth life and the land was prosperous. However, the peace was not to last. The god of Darkness became jealous of the others' work and started a war that tore the world asunder. But the world was still as one, although separate.
The Bright Gods created a Rift between the divided world and built a Gate connecting it. The preserved half held Light and was much the same as the original world. The destroyed portion was a land of Darkness. The Gate was closed, shutting off Light from Dark. The worlds were separated...for a time.
A thousand years passed, and the memory of the Gate and what lay on the other side departed from the minds of most—but not all. A mysterious group of men known only as the Fellowship found a way to find and unlock the Gate. Creatures as terrible as nightmares flooded through the Rift. A war rivaling the one in the Beginning was fought between the creatures of the Dark and the beings of the Light. Toting bravery and sacred weapons, great Heroes rose from out of the din and drove the fighting forces apart. The Gate was closed.
Years passed, turning the fresh memory of the war into nothing more than legend. The Light World, which came to be known Rodylia, established a monarchy. The Dark World, Dævir, also turned to a king to guide them. However, though the years, a group of men took control and acted like puppeteers to the helpless nobles. The Dark World, although never a pleasant place to live, fell into decay.
The Rift was weakening. Two fractions of men in Rodylia fought a silent war. One tried to open the Gate, and once again join the worlds. The other tried to stop them at all costs. They both failed.
They came through like a flood. The dozens of men, cloaked in black appeared from the deepest Darkness. They took Dævir. The world fell apart, weakened beyond repair.
The Light still stood in ignorance. The men of the Dark found the torn Rift. The Gate, the last line of protection, was essentially useless. Only a few know of the impending disaster.
The time of long peace is over. Will the worlds, once stark enemies of one another, set aside their difference to bring down the growing threat? Is it even possible to stop the purest evil that has cloaked both lands? And most importantly…
